Emmanuel Mubita Imbula aka Minister EMI is a gospel musician based on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. He describes himself as a blessing because he hopes to be a blessing to all who encounter him.
Hailing from Ndola District, EMI comes from a singing family where his parents sung in their church choir and notes having discovered a passion for music when he was in secondary school in Ndola where he learnt to play various musical instruments such as the guitar and the keyboard and later discovered that he had the gift of singing.
Following these discoveries, he pursued music by joining singing groups as well the church choir which he is still part of today. He refined his instrument playing abilities which later saw him working for a music studio in Chingola where he eventually crafted his song writing skills by writing his first song titled “Lolela Mune”, one of the top tracks on his album. EMI cites his personal life experience at that particular time as the inspiration behind the song.
EMI has been a recording artist for about 10 years and released his first album titled “Kasunga Wandi” in March, 2018. The ten track album was written primarily by him. He describes his musical sound as Afro-gospel with a slight infusion of RnB and Jazz both of which are music genres that he enjoys listening to.
EMI notes that he was moved to embark on a career in music during the time he worked for the music studio where he helped other artists to write as well as provide backing vocals on their songs.
EMI cites the Holy Spirit and his personal life experiences as the inspiration behind the lyrics in his music and he notes that his songs are mostly personal testimonies about his life.
Nachepa is his single released in 2020 and he says the holy spirit inspired him to write the song as to remind everyone to be still and know that he is God, he will be exalted among nations and he will be exalted in the earth.
“There comes a time when you can’t understand situations you’re going through as an individual, as a nation or as a world at large. I want to remind you that man will always be man no matter what instead turn back to God and trust in him, leave him to handle your situations, Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding (Iwe chepa leka Lesa akule)”, says the artist.
He concludes that his passion for gospel music is Jesus Christ and the preaching of the Gospel across all nations and he hopes to continue making music that can minister to people from all over for as long as God can allow him to do so.
